CapCut, the renowned video editing app by ByteDance, is leaping business tools. Once known for its user-friendly templates and seamless integration with TikTok, CapCut is extending its reach to advertisers and creators by introducing CapCut for Business. This business-centric extension of the CapCut platform brings forth tools that assist marketers, brands, small businesses, and creators in generating ads and branded content.
“The future of business is in AI, and ByteDance’s CapCut is leading the way.”
AI-Powered Tools for Businesses
One of the remarkable features of CapCut for Business is the AI-powered script generation tool. This tool aids advertisers in coming up with unique script ideas based on their product or business description. The platform offers thousands of commercially licensed business templates, an intelligent tool for converting product or landing page URLs into videos, and much more.
AI plays a significant role in the new service. It goes beyond just ad script generation. Marketers can now access AI-generated presenters who can demonstrate a company’s products through demos and explainer videos. Moreover, a virtual try-on feature uses AI models to allow customers to try on products and generate photos that showcase the product. This feature is particularly beneficial for e-commerce businesses and clothing merchants.
Collaborative Features for Teams
Unlike the consumer app, CapCut for Business is designed for use across teams. The platform has collaboration features that allow users to work on their ads with other team members, agencies, and creators. Permissions can be set to edit, access, review, or add notes and suggestions. These tools help craft videos to advertise products across TikTok and other short-form video platforms. Still, they can also be used for creating organic content – like videos posted to the brand’s TikTok account.
Global Expansion and Success
Launched in China in 2019, CapCut expanded globally and grew in popularity, mainly due to its ties with TikTok. As of August 2023, the app was used by 490 million iOS and Android users worldwide – approximately 25% of TikTok’s user base. Top markets outside China include the U.S., U.K., Germany, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Brazil, which have seen significant download increases over the first half of this year. In total, CapCut reaches 170 countries outside China.
CapCut also surpassed Splice to become the most profitable video editing app globally during the first half of 2023, pulling in a record high of $50 million, making it ByteDance’s second app to top $100 million globally. The increased adoption and revenue gains are attributed to the recent introduction of AI features, like templates, effects, and filters. After adding generative AI templates and products this April, CapCut saw a download spike followed by continuous revenue increases.
Empowering Consumers and Marketers
With its new business-focused features, CapCut is positioning its editing app as a tool for consumers to make compelling videos for social media, including TikTok. Moreover, it enables marketers to do so without investing heavily in advanced video editing software. In selected case studies, CapCut reports business users could increase their video output, views, and engagement, sometimes by triple-digit percentages. In other cases, they could also reduce the average CPM and drive online sales.
The new CapCut for Business software is now accessible to brands, marketers, and creators. The real-world results will only be measurable once the software is in the hands of more marketers. However, it is clear that with its AI-powered tools and features, CapCut is revolutionizing the way businesses approach video content creation and advertising.
