Wayyyy back in 2020, when there weren’t many places to go, and Facebook became more important, I saw a post on a site called Ohio Waterfalls, and it seemed like the perfect spring/summer activity. My wife and I needed to get out and this was the perfect (safe) opportunity.
My first thought was, “How many waterfalls can there be in Ohio?” I obviously hadn’t been paying attention. As I looked through the posts, I found several waterfalls nearby.
Each time I go see waterfalls, they are often hard to find, so I do feel like I’m chasing waterfalls. I did and still do think of the song “Waterfalls,” especially the chorus, “Don’t go chasin’ waterfalls…” In my mind the rest of the chorus becomes, “ba pa, pa, pa, ba, pa, pa,” since I never knew, or don’t remember, the rest.
The song is performed by TLC, and written by band member, Lisa Lopes, along with Marqueze Ethridge, Patrick Brown, Raymon Murray, and Rico Wade. While writing this post, I looked up the meaning of the phrase, Don’t go chasin’ waterfalls. The meanings are varied, and most are not recommended behavior. Using my poetic license—it comes in handy—I decided it would mean walking in the beauty of nature, or something like that.
This year is our fourth that we have chased waterfalls. It gets us out in nature and allows us to see natural wonders. Here are three of the ones we found recently. Give it a try.
As for me, I’ll keep looking for waterfalls, and I’ll keep singing my song…at least the parts I remember.
